Here Comes The Sun

Gold River, CA

With large windows and sliders wrapping the home overlooking the surrounding greenery, it was all about celebrating a good view outside no matter where you are in the kitchen. The main Galley workstation overlooks the backyard with expansive surface on either side. The secondary workstation centered under the far window serves as a prep station and also an accessory bar to the adjacent formal dining room. In the heart of kitchen, the cooking appliances are kept central on the island and back wall for ultimate high function. The wood top breakfast table, fully cantilevered off the island, allows for a more casual dining setting and also provides a space for guests to gather round while others are cooking. Wrapping the tall pantry cabinets, the wood floor was carried up and around to give the illusion of taller ceilings and compliment the space with a warmer finish. To add a pop of color to the primarily neutral kitchen, a soft orange matte glass was selected for two areas in the kitchen; the only backsplash and as a cabinet front on the floating wall cabinet.

Opposite the kitchen is a striking fireplace wall with both display and concealed storage behind shimmering champagne lacquer doors. The dynamic wavy wall-to-wall tile was used to add an element of soft texture.

The adjacent formal dining room is great for entertaining, outfitted with two full height wine columns and finished in a dramatic high gloss dark wood grain with a mixture of both matte and high gloss black upper cabinetry.

Geometric rounds and angles create a striking design in this powder bath. Wood flooring flows up the back wall pairing with the EV Cherry cabinetry bringing in a lovely warmth. A matte black vessel sink is complemented by the matte black fixtures while the Iron Ore walls and ceiling tie in with a Dekton Kayla surface. Angling the surface across the face of the vanity provides elegant and unique storage for towels, while a large single drawer provides more discreet storage. A custom back lit mirror emulates the rising sun.

The beauty is found within the simplistic nature of this bathroom. Paired with a soft neutral color palette, crisp clean lines are carried throughout with a straight gridwork tile pattern on the floors and walls, complete with a mirror recessed in the wall to be flush with the surrounding tile. Square shaped legs wrap and support the spacious vanity with large flat panel drawers. The plumbing fixtures selected were used to add soft curvature elements balancing the space.

Complimentary to it’s adjacent bathroom, this light white laundry room boasts function and form. With a combination of open and concealed storage, this space maximizes efficiency and organization. Leading to the garage, it was important for this space to double as a mudroom with a bench seat to throw on your shoes before heading out the door. Sliding doors at accessible height were a must in the laundry room allowing the client to move freely about this space without contending with swinging doors.

While matching the crisp clean lines of the guest bath, this master bath brings in warmer features. The medium-toned wood grain of the Ash wood cabinetry softens the bright naturally illuminated master bath. Mood lighting was integrated throughout this space – behind the mirrored medicine cabinets, in the open shelving, at the toe space, and behind the bathtub, to create an elegant, yet inviting experience in this space no matter the time of day. The floating makeup vanity is backdropped by the original brick chimney that houses the master bedroom’s fireplace, for extra warmth in those cold months.
